Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT) related organizations range from social and support groups to organizations that are political in nature. Some groups are independent, while others are officially recognized advocacy groups within mainstream religious organizations or political parties. - Colt 45's – (Houston, Texas) Founded in the spring of 1976 as a Gay Western charitable organization, The Colt 45's basic goal was to serve the Houston community as a charity while still having a good time. In the past the community needs have changed and the Colt 45's kept pace with the changes, especially in the area of AIDS and HIV. As a 501(c)(3) charity, they strive to serve the Houston HIV/AIDS community.
